Professional profile

Dr Naveed Younis qualified from Manchester University in 1993 and trained in Manchester and Liverpool Hospitals. Dr Younis was a clinical research fellow in Liverpool studying aspects of retinopathy screening and has published widely in this field. Dr Younis has been a Consultant Physician in South Manchester since 2004. Dr Younis has a holistic approach to managing patients with Endocrine and Diabetes disorders. Dr Naveed Younis trained as a physician in general (internal) medicine, diabetes and endocrinology. In diabetes Dr Younis has trained in diagnostics and management of this condition and its complications. Dr Younis has a large practice in endocrinology involving all aspects of endocrinology such as thyroid, metabolic disorders, adrenal and pituitary. Dr Younis has a large multidisciplinary practice in diabetes managing complex disease and leads on diabetic foot problems and nephropathy.

I specialise in managing all aspects of Endocrinology including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, hypogonadism and pituitary. I arrange diagnostic investigations and treatment pathways. I am highly experienced in managing all aspects of diabetes and its complications including pre-diabetes and obesity. I have a specific interest in patient education, insulin complex pathways and complications of diabetes such as renal disease and neuropathy.

I have over 10 years experience as an Endocrinologist and Diabetologist in a large teaching University Hospital Practice. I am clinical lead within the department in my NHS practice. I have over 10 years experience as a general physician looking after in-patients and outpatient referrals.

I am clinical lead for Endocrinology at University Hospital South Manchester and I am the regional training programme director (TPD) in Endocrinology for higher specialist trainees in the North Western Deanery. I am member of the SAC in Endocrinology representing the North Western Deanery.

I am a teacher for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Manchester University. I am proud to be honorary lecturer at the University of Manchester and Cardiff University. I orgainse national and local teaching to Primary and Secondary Care.

Personal Profile

Dr Naveed Younis enjoys playing football; however with increasing age, Dr Younis has now become more of a defensive central defender rather than the attacking midfielder he used to be. Dr Naveed Younis enjoys cycling and running as his other passion, mainly to keep fit and prevent obesity. Dr Younis enjoys watching premiership football, if he can prise away from his young children’s commitments. Dr Younis enjoys teaching and educating patients and particularly providing group structured education to enhance self-management.
