I am a Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist, working at The Walton Centre, Liverpool since I completed my training there in 2019. I am a highly skilled Consultant Neurologist experienced in the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders. I am an expert in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve problems using nerve conduction tests and electromyography as well as in the interpretation of electroencephalograms (EEGs) to evaluate for brain disorders like epilepsy and encephalopathy.

As a consultant neurologist, I see the full breadth of neurological problems including migraine, cluster headache, trigeminal neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease. In my NHS practice, I run a neurology clinic and review ward referrals at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
 
As a consultant clinical neurophysiologist, I hold regular nerve conduction and electromyography clinics, seeing a wide breadth of complexity ranging from common nerve entrapments such as carpal tunnel compression and ulnar neuropathy through to complex peripheral neuropathies and motor neurone disease. Nerve conduction studies and electromyography are an extension of the neurological examination. They help with the diagnosis of nerve and muscle diseases. For nerve conduction studies, small electrical impulses are passed through nerves and the responses are picked up and analysed to assess how well the nerves are working. Electromyography involves a needle being inserted into a muscle whilst connected to the nerve conduction machine. The inherent electrical signal within the muscle is analysed. It can give detail as to how well the nerve supply to that muscle is working and can give clues to whether the underlying problem is within the muscle itself (myopathy). Within my nerve conduction and electromyography clinics, I see patients referred from other clinicians or whom I have already seen in my neurology practice. A report is provided to the referring clinician, or I act on it myself if the referral came from my neurology practice.

Having qualified from Cardiff University in 2008, I completed two years as a junior doctor in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd followed by another two years at Ysbyty Maelor. From 2012-2019 I did my higher training in neurology and clinical neurophysiology at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool.

I am Clinical Lead for the neurophysiology department in Walton and also lead for neurophysiology within the epilepsy surgery programme and oversee inpatient and outpatient EEG monitoring provision. I am the Chief Clinical Information Officer at Walton, meaning I lead for IT issues from a medical perspective. I am Education Chair at the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology, meaning I sit on the national council for my specialty's national society and take the lead on education issues. I am Chair of the North Wales Motor Neurone Disease Specific Advisory Group (MND DSAG), bringing together clinicians working with patients with motor neurone disease across North Wales. I supervise two clinical neurophysiology training posts at Walton and also supervise senior clinical physiologists who are on the Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme training to be consultant clinical scientists.
