Our team aim to provide a program of care tailored to your individual health and wellbeing needs. Our physiotherapists are equipped to optimise your recovery from surgery or struggling with persistent niggles, such as back and neck pain, sprains and strains, tendonitis and arthritis. Our specialist team are happy to provide a 1:1 assessment and treatment program with expert advice to help you manage your condition and optimise your recovery.

We work closely with the Consultant orthopaedic and sports medicine specialists at Spire Southampton Hospital, giving you rapid access to diagnostic tests as well as consultant specialists.

Hand therapy is the management of hand disorders and injuries using methods such as exercise, splinting and wound care. Hand therapy includes physiotherapy (joint mobilisation, stretching, active and resisted exercises), rehabilitation, splinting, and advice on everyday hand functions and physiotherapy.

Our specialists are able to devise bespoke exercise programs and static hand splints for a wide range of conditions.

Your first step is to visit the clinic for a consultation conducted by one of our specialist physiotherapists. Because everyone is an individual - treatment is planned and tailored to address your specific condition - we pride ourselves on treating our patients, not just their symptoms

Assessment and treatment

Our aim is to relieve your pain, restore movement, increase general fitness and strengthen the muscles that support your spine. Treatments can include manual therapy techniques, guided use of our gym for exercises and core stability programmes which will help build a home exercise programme, postural advice and back care education and acupuncture. Early intervention can help to achieve a quick recovery enabling you to return to your normal level of fitness. We also help in a gradual return to work, advising on the dos and don'ts for long-term benefit

Preparing for treatment

At your first appointment a detailed history will be taken, followed by a thorough assessment of your condition. This will help us establish your baseline function from which we can measure your improvement. You will receive expert advice and treatment and we will provide you with a personal recovery programme tailored to your needs. Our physiotherapists can also refer you to a consultant and can arrange access, when necessary, to our diagnostic facilities including X-ray, CT and MRI scanning and blood tests. Your physiotherapist can liaise with your GP and provide them with a detailed discharge summary at the end of your treatment. As treatment progresses the physiotherapist will recommend appropriate exercises to do at home and will provide guidance to help you with these. The aim of the treatment is to help each patient achieve their own personal goal and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Which symptoms and conditions are treated?

Symptoms we can help with include pain, tingling, weakness or numbness in your leg or arm, muscle spasm, muscle tightening of their own accord, difficulty in moving from one position to another, stiffness in your neck or lower back, difficulty in standing up straight and headaches. Conditions treated include mechanical low back pain, postural problems, disc prolapse, poor core stability, sciatica, whiplash, and overuse injuries.

Located in the gym area, the rehabilitation process is completed over a course of sessions where you will progress from week to week. Using advanced technology, we can monitor your progress and visually demonstrate how you are improving.

Clinical rehabilitation focuses on gaining strength, mobility and function with the aim of returning to normal life, making your daily routines easier or progressing you further in your sport. This process is unique because the rehabilitators here at Perform are qualified and trained to assess and prevent any injury occurring through the rehabilitation process. The exercises are controlled and closely monitored to ensure you’re moving with the correct biomechanics and set to a level which is right for you.

A service aimed at patients who have pain in the groin region, particularly those who have not benefited from standard treatment or who have prolonged symptoms.

Podiatry or podiatric medicine is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity.

At Spire Western Docks Clinic we provide a centre of foot care excellence with a friendly and caring environment, obtained by combining highly experienced podiatrists with the latest technology.

Treatment is supplied with enthusiasm and commitment to all ages and all levels of activity. Our patients include professional athletes, premiership footballers, county cricketers, junior elite sports participants, triathletes, walkers, golfers and recreational runners.

We also offer joint assessments with our podiatrists and specialist foot and ankle physiotherapists.

If required, custom foot orthotics are made while you wait in our orthotic laboratory so you can leave with your newly made orthotics at the end of your appointment.  These are made using the most up to date video and foot scanning equipment.

We also hold multidisciplinary clinics where gait analysis is reviewed with physiotherapists and orthopaedic surgeons.

The assessment

We can provide a full assessment of your walking and running pattern, using a treadmill, high speed digital camera footage, specialised software and a pressure mat system in our biomechanical gait assessment laboratory.

The assessment also includes movement screening and assessment of strength & range of motion appropriate to the gait analysis findings.

A plan of how to best improve the things identified will be discussed with you during the assessment and recommendations of further care required will be offered.

Our physiotherapists and podiatrists work closely together in the gait lab and have easy access to our consultants if they feel such input would be appropriate.
