The number of cosmetic surgery procedures being carried out in the US increased by five per cent in 2010, which could give an insight into UK trends.
Data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that over 13 million procedures were carried out across the US in the 12-month period, with the majority being minimally invasive procedures such as Botox.
The figures also highlighted that more men are opting for plastic surgery, with male breast reductions increasing by six per cent and hair transplants rising by two per cent.
Overall, breast enhancements were the most popular procedure, according to the society, with a total of 296,203 breast augmentation procedures taking place throughout the year.
Other notable statistics included the fact that calf augmentations rose by a massive 61 per cent, although only 418 were carried out.
Data from the society also highlighted that over five million reconstructive surgeries were carried out across the year.
Figures from Britain's Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons show that over 38,200 cosmetic operations were carried out in 2010.
