Our Oncology Team
Spire Norwich Hospital's oncology service is led by a dedicated and highly experienced team of consultant oncologists and chemotherapy nurse specialists. Our oncology nurses are trained in all aspects of chemotherapy, including management of side effects and all issues relating to cancer.
Having established in 1998, we are committed to providing our patients with the highest levels of individual care and offering the latest chemotherapy treatments. Should you wish to visit our unit prior to treatment commencing, we are more than happy to meet you and discuss any queries you may have.
We routinely treat the following types of cancers:
- breast cancer
- prostate cancer
- colorectal cancers
- gynaecological cancers (ovarian, cervical)
- lung and mesothelioma
- urological tumours (including bladder cancers)
- upper digestive cancers

Our chemotherapy unit provides intravenous and oral chemotherapy, bisphosphanates biological treatments such as Herceptin, Avastin, Cetuximab and blood transfusions.

Pathology
We are able to offer a pathology service to our patients and results are available to clinicians promptly.
Pharmacy
Our dedicated team of pharmacists enable our service to run safely and efficiently. Our pharmacists can offer help and advice on your treatment and medications supplied.
Supporting oncology service
The chemotherapy day unit is currently open each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09.00 - 17.00 hours. In addition to this Spire Norwich Hospital can offer the support of a breast care specialist nurse who can offer advice from the point of diagnosis until the end of treatment and onwards.
Scalp cooling
Spire Norwich Hospital offers scalp cooling using "Paxman coolers" - scalp cooling can prevent or limit the side effects of alopecia (hair loss) experienced when using certain chemotherapy drugs. Our team will be happy to discuss this in more detail if required.
