Bupa Health and Wellbeing Assessment Centre

In our modern, busy lives it’s all too easy to forget to take care of your most vital asset – your health. Fortunately, regular health assessments can offer you peace of mind, leaving you free to get on with taking care of everybody else.

A Bupa health assessment gives you the opportunity to review your physical condition and lifestyle, to ensure your continued health and wellbeing.

Through an extensive questionnaire, a wide range of tests and a lengthy consultation with a doctor we are able to provide you with advice tailored to your needs.

The Bupa Health and Wellbeing Assessment Centre is just one of the many specialist treatment facilities available at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your general health and wellness and receive expert advice and diagnosis from our healthcare professionals.

Most test results are available on the day and you’ll have plenty time to discuss the outcomes with a doctor. Should we detect a problem, we can recommend an immediate course of action – one of the many benefits of attending Spire Fylde Coast Hospital.

What Health Assessments are available to me?

Bupa Complete Health

Bupa Complete Health will provide you with an in-depth profile of your health and wellbeing and includes a 45-minute consultation with a Bupa doctor. Our most popular assessment has been enhanced to include our new tests such as our ‘Lung age’ test where we can estimate a persons ‘lung age’ as well as a metabolic rate test and a diabetes risk score. Based on the information we gather through an extensive questionnaire, a wide range of blood and physiological tests and a lengthy consultation with a doctor, we will give you a full picture of your health and tailored advice.

The physiological tests include assessing your heart, lungs, abdomen and central nervous system. We’ll look at your blood pressure, cholesterol blood tests and your heart trace (ECG) and assess your risk of heart disease. We carry out detailed blood analysis to test for conditions such as diabetes, gout, anaemia and liver and kidney problems. Your hearing and vision will be checked, and we provide a detailed body composition profile, including your body fat percentage. We’ll also talk you through your diet and lifestyle.

For men, we'll provide a testicular examination, for women, a cervical smear and breast examination. We'll inform you about your potential health risks and instruct you on how to perform self-examinations and be “body aware”.

Bupa Female Health

This health check is a good opportunity to seek reassurance about women’s health issues and assesses breast and gynaecological health. It includes a cervical smear, blood analysis, a thorough breast examination and mammography (for women aged 40 or over).

Bupa Essential Health

Focusing on key health issues, this is for anyone looking for a general check of their health and an understanding of their future health risks and how these may be minimised through simple lifestyle changes. The test lasts up to one hour, through an extensive questionnaire, a wide range of tests and a 30-minute consultation with a doctor we give an overall health profile and tailored advice based on the information we gather. The wide range of tests includes assessing the health and lungs and detailed blood analysis to test for conditions such as raised cholesterol, diabetes and gout. We'll also provide a body composition profile. As it does not include gynaecological tests it is ideal for women who already have smears at their GP surgery. Suitable for well people under 40, with no particular health concerns, who want to understand and minimise future health risks.

Breast Health

This health check consists of a thorough breast check, including mammography if you're over 40, to help detect early signs of breast disease. Bupa Breast Health is available on its own or as an add-on to Bupa Advanced, Complete and Mature Health. Please call us for advice on how to add
additional tests to a core health assessment.

Bupa Mature Health

Specifically for people over the age of 65, Bupa Mature Health provides an in-depth profile of your health and wellbeing and includes a 60-minute consultation with a Bupa doctor. This test last for around two hours - through an extensive range of tests, including additional ones for conditions that are more likely at this age, we aim to give you a thorough health check.

We’ll also talk you through diet and lifestyle.

For men, we provide a testicular examination, for women, a cervical smear and breast examination. We'll inform you about your potential health risks and instruct you on how to perform self-examinations and be “body aware”. Women are able to include a mammogram for an extra fee.
