These Awards aim to recognise the best patient safety initiatives so that they can be shared across the health service. This year the Awards received their highest number of entries in their history and we are proud to receive recognition for our patient safety initiatives.
Spire Healthcare has been shortlisted in the Education and Training in Patient Safety category following the introduction of a comprehensive critical care continuum, established over a number of years to enable medical and nursing teams to quickly and effectively identify patients who need additional support. This has helped to ensure unplanned returns to theatre (0.16%), transfers to other hospitals for higher levels care (0.06%) and readmission rates (0.27%) are low across our hospitals. Cardiac arrests have also fallen with survival rates of 94%. These measures reflect our ability to care for a range of patients including those with complex post-operative nursing needs.
The awards ceremony is on 9 July at Grosvenor House, London, where the winners will be announced.
