Background Information

Professional profile:

Lead Cancer Clinician and chairs the Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (Tumour Board) at the Head and Neck Unit in Liverpool. A member of the adult skull-base team with considerable experience in mid-face reconstruction, originating the use of the vascularised iliac crest with internal oblique.

Carried out original research into the patterns and routes of tumour invasion of the mandible and was awarded a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons for 2004-2005 on this subject.

There has always been an interest in outcome data and the establishment of the Liverpool Head and Neck Dataset has been an important part of the quality outcome data that has been published from the unit. 80 peer-reviewed publications and 30 have been as first author.

Previously Assistant Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is now section editor for the British Journal.
