    Dr Strahan studied medicine at Manchester University Medical School. During his time there he took a year out to do an honours degree in medical biochemistry.

    He completed anaesthetic training in Manchester and was appointed to a consultant post at Halton General Hospital in 1986. Following a number of years at Halton Hospital in posts including director of the critical care unit and clinical director of anesthetics and intensive care, Dr Strahan took up a new post in January 2002 as Consultant Anaesthetist at Wrightington and Wigan. His NHS time is now split between intensive care at Wigan and orthopaedic anaesthesia at Wrightington Hospital.
    Personal profile:
    Dr Strahan lives locally in Moore and has a busy family life with two young girls. He is interested in most sports, especially rugby (both league and union) and golf.
