Background Information
Professional profile:

Nutritional Therapist – BANT Registered 2005

Sure Start –Nutritionist – I piloted and operated a scheme whereby the PCTs funded a clinic.  This enabled people to visit the clinic who may ordinarily not have the opportunity to do so.   Patients from low income families were able to benefit from the nutritional advice.  Unfortunately, the PCT stopped the funding, so my services were phased down to an ad hoc service.

Spire St Saviours Hospital – Weight Loss Team – I am the Nutritionist working with Mr Basu, providing a package of support for patients undergoing Gastric Band Surgery.  As part of the assessment team, I liaise with 3 other professionals to evaluate the individual.  If a candidate is approved for surgery I am then there every step of the way, to provide support, dietary advice and monitoring.

Family Skills Groups – Liaising with Community Care Workers and Social Services, I hold workshops with families to ensure they are taught skills for healthy eating.

Food In Schools – Piloted a scheme whereby workshops were held for parents teaching healthy eating and food economics.  This enabled parents to combat issues such as fussy eating, eating disorders, Brain Foods (the use of oils), Healthy Lunchbox Launch and managing to shop for healthy foods without exceeding their budgets.

Private Practice – I run a successful private clinic whereby patients come to see me for advice and support to help alleviate a host of symptoms.  I am an allergy/intolerance therapist which enables me to remove suspect foods/allergens in order to alleviate symptoms but prevent nutritional deficiencies.

Healthy Lifestyle ProgrammeAre you fed up with calorie counting ? I have designed these dynamic 4 week workshops, where we discuss our relationship with food, urban food myths, simple ways to eat healthily without calorie counting, how to manage portion control, improve our self esteem and examine our day to day lifestyles to find ways to make it healthier.

Nutritional therapy encompasses the use of carefully compiled individual prescriptions for diet and lifestyle in order to alleviate or prevent ailments and promote optimal health. These recommendations may include guidance on natural detoxification, procedures to promote colon health, methods to support digestion and absorption, the avoidance of ingestion or inhalation of toxins or allergens and the appropriate use of supplementary nutrients. Nutritional therapists often work with patients, many of whom have been referred by medical practitioners, who have chronic health problems that conventional medicine finds difficult to treat.
