Mr I Myles Black MB BCh BAO FRCS (Otol) FRCS (ORL - HNS) graduated from the Queen's Medical School in Belfast and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. ENT training as a Specialist Registrar was undertaken on the South Thames Rotation, London, working mainly at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospitals; specialising in Paediatric ENT at both Great Ormond Street and the Evelina Hospitals.
His subspecialist expertise is thyroid Surgery and he has completed Fellowships in this discipline at the Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital, New York and at the European Hospital Georges Pompidou, Paris. More recently, he has returned from a years Fellowship in Head, Neck and Thyroid Surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Mr Black is the Accredited Educational Supervisor for the Intercollegiatate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP) and the clinical audit lead for the Medway Thyroid Cancer Network.
As a member of the EKHT Thyroid Multidisciplinary Team and the Kent and Medway Cancer Network Mr Black treats patients with head and neck cancer and those with thyroid disease. In addition, he deals with patients suffering from snoring and sleep apnoea, salivary gland disease, paediatric and voice surgery patients and also undertakes endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS).
He is an ENT consultant and dedicated thyroid surgeon for the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust.
