Dr Ola Smith established the first dedicated Paediatric Allergy and Respiratory Service in East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust in 2002 and has since further developed the service.
He runs Paediatric Allergy, Respiratory, Cystic Fibrosis and General Outpatient Clinics as well, within the NHS.
Dr Ola Smith has extensive experience in treating children with a wide range of general paediatric, respiratory and allergic diseases including the use of sublingual immunotherapy. He primarily assesses children with suspected allergies to food and inhalant allergens, some of whom may have asthma, eczema or hayfever.
He adopts a whole system approach when assessing each patient.
Dr Smith qualified in 1989 and held postgraduate positions at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, Sheffield Children's Hospital and as a Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric Allergy and Respiratory Paediatrics at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, Scotland. He also served as a College Tutor at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for serval years.
