In vitro fertilisation involves adding sperm to a dish containing a woman's eggs.
Once the sperm have fertilised the eggs, the resulting embryos are transferred into the woman's uterus.
Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) involves injecting a single sperm directly into an egg to fertilise it. The fertilised egg (embryo) is then transferred into the womb a few days later.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves extracting the most viable sperm from a man's semen. These fast-moving sperm are then placed into the woman’s uterus close to the time of ovulation when the egg is released from the ovary.
Spire Fertility's hospitals offer a number of fertility tests to anyone concerned about their fertility. These tests can help to determine the cause of infertility and assist in choosing the right treatment options. Tests include blood and/or semen analysis.
