Niall qualified in Edinburgh in 1990 and was appointed as a consultant in 2001 with a specific specialist role as a hip and knee surgeon. Niall’s NHS contract is with the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry. His special interest has developed to include hip resurfacing and minimal incision hip replacement when appropriate. Private patients are seen and operated on at both the Spire Yale Hospital in Wrexham and RJAH Hospital.

He undertakes over 240 primary hip replacements and 150 primary knee replacements per annum. The national average for these two procedures is only 30 and 25 respectively! 

Revision surgery also plays a major role in his practice undertaking over 75 revisions per year when most surgeons undertake fewer than 10.

Personal profile:

Niall is married. His wife is also an orthopaedic surgeon and together they make up the Graham and Lewis partnership. He has 2 black Labradors and enjoys skiing and walking.
