"Before Spire I worked in a major high street bank as a cashier from leaving school. I enjoyed this but wanted more experience in admin roles rather than sales. I have worked at Spire Portsmouth for 5 years this month, and from Support Services I progressed to Outpatients Administrator, Main Reception Administrator, Radiology Administrator and then I became Business Administrator in January this year.
The role of Business Administrator involves overseeing and checking the invoice processing, processing payments, submitting payroll, and resolving queries. The most rewarding part of the job for me is dealing with sometimes complicated in depth queries and providing a clear and understandable response to ensure customers understanding and satisfaction. Customer account queries can be challenging, however also satisfying to resolve and ensure that the patients experience has been improved.
Having had the opportunity to work in many different departments I have a good understanding of how a private hospital runs and also learnt many admin skills which have increased my personal work experience and assisted me with promotion. With Spire’s support, I have also completed a work based NVQ level 2 in customer service.
The culture within my hospital team is very caring, friendly and understanding, I’ve always felt like I belong in the “Spire family” and everyone is always prepared to help others, providing professional and personal support. Nothing is ever too much trouble with staff across the group. Most of the Business Administrators across the entire group are in contact and share best practices and concerns."
