He was Honorary Consultant for 25 years at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square and has published over 150 scientific articles and written two books on disorders of smell and taste.  Professor Hawkes is founder and Chief Editor of a new international journal ‘Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders’ published by Elsevier Press since 2011.
