When your clinician believes an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), CT (computerised tomography), X-ray or ultrasound would be the most appropriate support for a diagnosis we can provide you prompt and appropriate care.

Self-funding and insured patients

At Spire Manchester Hospital you can be treated even if you don’t have private medical insurance. With a fixed price agreed in advance you can pay for one-off private treatment when you need it.

How to access our services?

We require a signed referral usually from your GP or specialist, but also accept from physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, etc. We must receive your referral form before your appointment can be arranged, once we have received your referral form we will contact you directly to arrange a convenient time for you to attend.

MRI can help diagnose and monitor many different medical conditions and is suitable for every part of the body, including bones soft tissues and the brain.

X-rays are a quick and painless method used to diagnose many health conditions. X-rays can take images of any bone in the body and are also used to look at the heart, lungs and blood vessels.

Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to create pictures of the inside of the body. It can show internal organs as well as blood flow and can be used to look for any changes in organs and tissue.

Mammography is a type of scanning that uses low dose x-rays to examine the breast to help identify breast cancer in its early stages as it can find cancers that are too small to feel.

Virtual Colonoscopy

Virtual colonoscopy (also called a computerised tomography colonography or CT colonography) allows doctors to look at the large bowel to detect polyps and signs of cancer.

An echocardiogram (also known as a cardiac ultrasound or cardiac echo), is a specialised ultrasound scan of the heart which can be used to diagnose cardiovascular diseases and are one of the most widely used diagnostic tests for heart disease.

Urodynamic tests are used to find out how your bladder, sphincter (the muscle around the neck of your bladder) and the urethra are working. The test can help find out the cause for bladder problems such as incontinence or difficulty in passing urine.
