The Prostate Practice on BBC Three Counties Radio

The Prostate Practice helped raise awareness of prostate cancer when consultant urologist, Mr Tim Briggs appeared on BBC Three Counties Radio today.

Mr Briggs joined afternoon show presenter Nick Coffer, who had a personal interest in the topic as the disease has affected his own family.

About 40,000 men are diagnosed in the UK each year. In addition to explaining exactly what prostate cancer is, Mr Briggs explained why the disease is becoming more prevalent and how PSA tests work.

The show promoted The Prostate Practice’s public awareness talks which are taking place at Spire Harpenden Hospital tomorrow evening, and at Spire Bushey Hospital on Wednesday 26 March.

Past-patient, Lionel Leventhal, was also on air explaining how his prostate cancer was diagnosed, despite him not experiencing any symptoms. He spoke of his subsequent image guided radiotherapy treatment at Elstree Cancer Centre and shared some anecdotes from his cancer journey.

Mr Briggs and Lionel will both be attending the awareness evening at Spire Bushey Hospital, along with representatives from FOPS – the Friends of Prostate Sufferers – a Hertfordshire-based support group.

Anyone – male or female - interested in attending either event should email info@theprostatepractice.com or call us on 020 8185 7190.
