Professional profile:
I trained in medicine at Oxford University and St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. My surgical training was carried out at St Bartholomew's, Whipps Cross, Colchester, Oldchurch, Royal London and St Marks Hospitals from 1980-1993.

I carried out research on anorectal physiology and colorectal surgery between 1986-1988. I was appointed consultant surgeon at St Albans & Hemel Hempstead Hospitals in 1993.
