A team of cyclists undertook an epic ride from John O’Groats to Lands End and called into the hospital as they passed through Bristol to receive a physical and fundraising boost as they neared their journeys end.
The eight bikers, five of them Bristol-based, rolled into the Spire Bristol Hospital on Monday to be greeted by our physiotherapy team ready to help revive their aching limbs. We are also one of their major sponsors, having donated £1750 towards their fundraising. They are aiming to raise £20,000 for a variety of medical charities.
The leader of the free-wheelers, Arden Tomison, said: “It was a welcome sight to get to The Glen and have the expert help of the physios as we near the end of our ride. It was also great to have the chance to say ‘thank you’ to the team at Spire for their financial support. They are a major reason we are on track to reach our fundraising target.”
With several medics and a physiotherapist on the team it was a natural fit to support this group. Being able to welcome them to the hospital and provide practical assistance from the team here was also something we were delighted to do.
