Professor Steven Thomas is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with NHS and Private practice based in Bristol, South West of England.
Professor Thomas is experienced in the whole remit of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has particular interest and expertise in the removal of wisdom teeth, dental implants, removal of skin lesions, Head and Neck cancer, neck lumps, thyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery (parotid and submandibular) and temporomandibular joint surgery.
Professor Thomas currently holds posts as a Professor at the University of Bristol and as a Consultant Surgeon at the University Hospitals Bristol.
Professor Thomas is one of the leading researchers in Head and Neck cancer in the UK. He leads the largest study on Head and Neck cancer in the UK currently funded by NIHR (£1.8M). His other research is related to cleft lip and palate (£2M) and perioperative feeding.
Professor Thomas sits on the national Cancer Research Network and the Head and Neck Cancer Committee. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons England and Edinburgh, the British Medical Association (BMA) and the British Association of Head and Neck Surgeons.
