Dr Lockett did her general medical and gastroenterological training on the prestigious North West Thames rotation. She was trained in colonoscopy at the Wolfson unit for endoscopy, St. Mark's hospital. St. Mark's hospital is the UK's only specialist hospital for colorectal disease and the Wolfson unit is a national colonoscopy training centre and an accredited bowel cancer screening centre. She is now teaching on the South West colonoscopy training courses.

Dr Lockett's research 'Hyperplastic polyposis, serrated polyps and the serrated colorectal cancer pathway' was supervised by Professor Wendy Atkin and resulted in an MD from the University of London. During her research years, Dr Lockett developed an interest in familial colorectal cancer.

Dr Lockett spent four years working in the intestinal failure unit at St. Mark's hospital, one of only two units in the UK. She has set up two multidisciplinary nutrition teams and is currently the lead gastroenterologist for nutrition in North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT).

Dr Lockett is the lead gastroenterologist for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in NBT. She is developing an IBD database to improve patient care pathways and believes in assisted patient self-management and patient education.

Dr Lockett moved to Bristol in October 2005. Her partner and family still live in London, so many weekends are spent in traffic on the M4. She has two mischievous cats that keep her company during the week.
Weekends at home are either spent exploring Bristol or in DIY stores as she is slowly restoring her Edwardian house to its former glory.

Dr Lockett's interests include interior and exterior design, gardening, popular music, fitness and eating out. Her interest in fitness stems from her love of eating out, especially as she finds the dessert menu hard to resist!
