Professor Christopher Hawkes graduated in Medicine at Edinburgh University in 1964 and has been a Consultant Neurologist since 1976. He was Consultant Neurologist at Queens Hospital Romford and since 2008 at Barts and the London NHS Trust. He was Honorary Consultant for 25 years at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square and has published over 150 scientific articles and written two books on disorders of smell and taste. Professor Hawkes is founder and joint Chief Editor of a new international journal 'Multiple Sclerosis and related Disorders' to be published by Elsevier Press October 2011.
Professor Hawkes is married to an eye surgeon and has five children, two are lawyers, one is a doctor, one a teacher and one a builder.
Professor Hawkes interests are keeping fit in the gym, sailing a Laser (an International Olympic class dinghy), collecting antique clocks and reading autobiographies, politics and conspiracy theories.
