Professional profile:

I work as a general surgeon with a gastro-intestinal interest, both in my NHS post and privately. My main surgical repertoire is based on laparoscopic, or keyhole, surgery.

I trained for several years at Ninewells Hospital, one of the leading centres for laparoscopic surgery in the United Kingdom, where I had the privilege to work with Professor Cuschieri. As a result, I was one of the first consultants in the United Kingdom to go through a formal laparoscopic training course.

Personal profile:

I am a serving officer in the Royal Navy Reserve having seen service in Iraq.

My other non-medical interest is classical car restoration.
