Professor Haboubi trained in the Universities of Baghdad, Cardiff and Manchester and became a Consultant Histopathologist in 1980.

Professor Haboubi is the Co-Editor of the Journal Colorectal Disease, he is a Member of the Editorial Boards of Techniques in Coloproctology, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Polish J of Surgery.  He was the Founder and is an Executive council member of European Association of Coloproctology (ESCP), he is also the Chair of the Journal Committee of the ESCP, Member of R&D ESCP and Chair of the International Committee of the RSM section of Coloproctology. 

Professor Habuobi is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Coloproctology of the Great Britain and Ireland.  he has also held positions as the Vice President, Section of Coloproctology, Royal Society of Medicine, Secretary General of the European Council of Coloproctology, UK representative to the European Council of Coloproctology and Founder member of the European Association of Coloproctology (EACP).  He was also a Member of the Research Committees of the EACP and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Int J of Colorectal Disease.

Professor Habuobi has published 3 books, 1 supplements, 12 chapters, 126 pear reviewed articles and 21 invited editorials and commentaries.  He has been invited to lecture at over 150 national and international meetings. 

Dr Haboubi's main leisure interests involve playing sports such as golf, squash and tennis. He also enjoys listening to Middle Eastern and classical music.
