Mrs Kathryn Rothwell commenced her nursing career in 1975 having completed her initial training at Withington Hospital’s School of Nursing. Kath has gained wide experience in a range of specialities, including cancer care, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, gastroenterology, hepatology, orthopaedics and plastic surgery.
Education has been an important part of her career, spending time working as an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and having continued to be involved in the education of nursing staff and other health care providers for a number of years.
Kath became involved in the development of bariatric services at the Manchester Royal Infirmary over four years ago and became a full time bariatric specialist nurse in 2007.
Kath has a passion and enthusiasm for the development of these services to ensure that government targets, and the needs of both the client and the hospital are met.
