Mr. Payne has been a consultant to the Central Manchester and Manchester Children’s University Hospitals Foundation Trust for twenty-three years, training at the Institute of Urology and in Portsmouth before coming to Manchester in 1988.

Currently, Mr. Payne is Treasurer of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and a member of its Executive Committee. He is also national audit lead for the British Association of Genito-urinary Reconstructive Surgeons (BAGURS) and a past chairman of the Intercollegiate Examination Board in Urology, the body responsible for setting standards of knowledge for Consultant Practice.

Mr. Payne consults from 23 Anson Road, Manchester and carries out most of his inpatient activity at Spire Manchester Hospital. Having a strong relationship with Manchester Fertility Services, he provides a complete range of treatment for male factor infertility, from reconstructive surgery, including vasectomy reversal, to surgical sperm retrieval techniques including epididymal sperm aspiration, testicular sperm extraction and micro-dissection TeSE.

Apart from the management of general urological problems, the treatment of complex erectile dysfunction, surgical correction of Peyronie’s disease, penile prosthetic surgery and urethral reconstruction are Mr. Payne’s especial sub-specialist interests for which he attracts region-wide referrals on an NHS basis.
