Professional profile:

I am a high volume cataract surgeon and have wide experience in the latest techniques of cataract surgery. In addition, I provide a regional oculoplastics service, but provide a general ophthalmic service.

I trained and graduated at Birmingham University School and subsequently worked in Birmingham, Sheffield, Shrewsbury and Switzerland. I also worked at Moorfields and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. I undertook a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital and was appointed as consultant in Ophthalmology at Arrowe Park Hospital in 1993.

I have been the Regional Representative at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for 6 years and the Regional advisor for 6 years. I served as the the Royal College Surgical Skills tutor from 2006 to 2012.
I have been appointed as the Vice president and Head of Education at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists from May 2013 for a period of six years.
