A person's blood pressure is not fixed and can rise and fall depending on what they are doing and what is happening around them. When having their blood pressure taken some patients may suffer from 'White Coat syndrome', where their blood pressure is higher in a medical setting than at home therefore giving an inaccurate reading.
With the launch of our new 24 hour blood pressure monitoring service patients are now able to have an accurate reading of their blood pressure for suspected hypertension. Patients are given a small digital monitor that is worn on the arm for 24 hours which checks a person's blood pressure every hour ( two hourly during the night) in order to give an accurate reading.
There is no need for a consultation with a consultant and there are appointments available every week to have the monitor fitted. A report will be sent to your GP with the results of the test.
To have the 24 hour blood pressuring monitoring test costs £265 (including report).
