Mr Vik Vijh is a consultant that performs reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. He is currently featuring in Extreme Male Beauty on Channel 4. He received his training in London and passed the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) examination in 1988. After a formal training program in general surgery, he achieved the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of both England and Edinburgh in 1992.
Mr Vik Vijh began his career in plastic surgery with a two-and-a-half-year period of research into wound healing and scar management. Following this, Mr Vik Vijh worked as a plastic surgeon in hospitals throughout London as part of a formal and intensive training program. This program was interrupted for six months when Mr Vik Vijh undertook a formal cosmetic surgery fellowship to enhance and augment his skills, and complete his training as a reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgeon. This culminated in his acceptance as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in September 2002.
Mr Vik Vijh was appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon in the National Health Service (NHS) in 2002. He then went on a six-month travelling fellowship and visited some of the most accomplished plastic surgeons around the world to fine tune his surgical skills. Presently, he is Chief Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the NHS at the University Hospital of Birmingham, covering the Birmingham and West Midland areas, as well as the entire county of Herefordshire.
In the NHS, he specialises in breast surgery, including reconstructive breast surgery, as well as skin cancer surgery and general plastic surgery. In the private sector, plastic surgeon Mr Vik Vijh serves the communities of Worcester, Birmingham , Hereford and London offering all forms of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. In addition to his private practice, he is heavily involved in the training of reconstructive and cosmetic surgeons in both London and beyond. He has worked on many TV programmes such as "10 Years Younger", "Extreme Makeover", "You Are What You Eat", to name but a few.
He has also written for many journals, magazines and even a national newspaper. Having been Managing Director of Cosmetic Surgery for a group of 42 UK private hospitals, Mr Vik Vijh is now Programme Director of the Cosmetic Surgery fellowship at The Priory Hospital and Editor in Chief of thebodybible.com.
