Having completed a degree in Physiology at the University of London and qualified from Imperial Medical School in London in 1998, Mr Hanson went on to train as a surgeon in London and Essex. He was awarded an MD for a thesis on human pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours at St Bartholomews hospital.
Mr Hanson has been an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor and laparoscopic surgery faculty member.
Following completion of higher surgical training, he obtained 1 of 6 nationally recognised and fully sponsored Laparoscopic (minimal access) Fellowships taken at Colchester ICENI centre with Professor R Motson. Mr Hanson was subsequently appointed a temporary consultant at St Marks Hospital in Harrow which is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for colorectal surgery. He has attended numerous national and international courses on laparoscopic, general and colorectal surgery.
Currently Mr Hanson is a consultant surgeon at King Georges Hospital and clinical lead for the Enhanced Recovery Program and also clinical governance.
