Our Healthcare Standards

We passionately believe patients and their GPs should have high quality information to make informed choices when it comes to something as important as their health.

In 2006 Spire were the first private hospital group to publish clinical performance and health improvement measures on the web, including information on MRSA blood infection and Clostridium Difficile.

 

Education

Continuing education plays a key role in ensuring patients receive excellent clinical care and in maintaining our healthcare standards. Our education strategy is unique in offering education, training and workforce development to all staff across our 36 hospitals. No other independent healthcare provider has the approval and partnerships in place to enable the delivery of a complete education programme.

Spire is the only private hospital group to run its own university degree programme for nurses.

Spire Healthcare's education programme includes:

  • A unique degree (BSc Hons) programme in partnership with the University of Huddersfield. Up to 120 students a year have studied University accredited programmes since 1999; over 800 members of our staff have passed university modules.
  • A National Vocational Qualification School offering 15 accredited awards
  • 2 approved centres for Advanced Life Support Training in Manchester and Cardiff, with significantly higher than average pass rates
  • 80 knowledge based competency frameworks
