Your psychological assessment, consultation and therapy will be carried out by highly trained counselling psychologist.
Do I need a GP referral?
A GP referral is usually required if you are claiming on your insurance but is not essential if you are paying for your own treatment. You may simply call the appointments department at Spire Roding Hospital on 020 8709 7878 and we will arrange an initial appointment for you.
Do you offer sessions for children or adolescents?
Sessions are available for under 18’s but the needs of the young person or child may need to be first considered at an assessment session with the parent/carer. Our consultant offers a range of therapeutic interventions for children and young people including counselling and play/art/indirect therapy approaches.
What happens at my initial appointment?
Your first session with your psychologist will be an assessment session and is an opportunity for you to find out if you feel at ease and comfortable working together. You will explore a little about your life story and what has brought you to therapy. It is vital in therapy to work out what you hope to gain from the sessions and Dr Trayman will help you to work out what this is. This way you can begin to work together to either help you to change those things you would like to or perhaps to accept and make sense of those things you cannot change.
Is counselling or therapy the right thing for me?
Therapy is not for everyone but many people find that it is an invaluable place for them to become unstuck and feel more able to start managing the challenges they are facing. The best way to find this out is to arrange a first appointment, experience what it is like and this will help you to work out if it is the right thing for you.
I’m a parent struggling with my children - can you help?
Dr Trayman offers therapeutic support/consultation for parents who are struggling to make sense of their children’s behaviour and who feel they need a space to explore this. Meeting together with a psychologist to discuss your concerns and working together for a few sessions may help you to understand your child and how to manage things differently.
What will my sessions involve?
Sessions at the Spire Roding Psychology service incorporate an initial assessment and then may lead to a number of weekly fifty minute appointments of therapy. The number of these sessions will be agreed according to your needs, funding agreed by your private healthcare or if self-funding according to your financial situation.
Sessions are regularly reviewed and comprise primarily of talking about your difficulties within sessions in a private, confidential space. None of the details of what you share are disclosed to anyone else with the exception of when there is risk of harm to yourself or others.
Will you send a report to my GP?
Yes, with your consent we will keep your GP informed about how therapy is progressing and when therapy is extended or ended. Other reports are not provided for housing, court proceedings or other legal issues.
How much does treatment cost?
Sessions at Spire Roding Psychology Service start at £85 per 50 minute session.
