Dr Veerakathy Harindra has been a Consultant Physician in Genitourinary/ HIV Medicine at St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth since 1994 where he was appointed as the Clinical Director from 1998 to 2007 and a civilian advisor in Genitourinary/ HIV Medicine to the Royal Navy in 1998. He has also held positions as Honorary Consultant Physician in Genitourinary / HIV Medicine fo St Mary's Hospital , Isle of Wight and Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Further afield, he is a Consultant Advisor for the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand since 2006 and honorary Lecturer, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand.
Dr Harindra regularly lectures at international conferences and has been a member of a number of their scientific committees. He has also provided workshops in HIV and Sexually transmitted Infections in a number of developing countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Phillippines, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka.
Dr Harindra Has been published in numerous medical journals and has edited books including, 2MCQ in HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections" in 2004 and "Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV: an illustrated guide to the management of STIs and HIV" published in 2009. He is an associate editor for the journal "Sexual Health Matters" and also a member of the editorial advisory board for two peer reviewed journals.
