Dr Hobson qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School in 1997. Having obtained his MRCP in 2001 he undertook Cardiology training in the Wessex area including specialist interventional fellowships in Southampton and Bournemouth. He has been a Consultant Cardiologist in Portsmouth since 2010 dealing with all aspects of cardiology and specialising in Interventional Cardiology (balloon and stent treatment of coronary narrowings) from the radial approach (wrist).
He undertook a period of research on "Applications of thrombelastography in internventional cardiology" leading to the award of an MD in 2010 and maintains an active research interest in novel interventional technologies, antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapies and cholesterol lowering medication.He has published over 20 scientific papers and acted as an expert reviewer for scientific journals, medical student text books and for NICE.
He also has an interest in postgraduate medical education and is a Royal College Tutor at the Queen Alexandra Hospital where he organises the "medical grand rounds" and is in charge of continuing medical education for Consultants.
