Mr Mehta is a Consultant Spinal Deformity Surgeon, in the Spinal Deformity Unit. His NHS base is at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. Prior to this, he has worked as a consultant at the ABMU Health Board, Swansea and the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Nottingham.
After completing his CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics, Mr Mehta undertook fellowships in spinal surgery at the Bristol Orthopaedic Spinal Service for a year and spent a year as a Spinal Reconstruction Fellow in Columbia, Missouri, USA. He has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of spinal deformity in children, teenagers, adults and the elderly populations.
Mr Mehta also treats degenerative conditions of the cervical and the lumbar spine, and spinal trauma and spinal tumours. He has treated professional and semi-professional football, cricket and rugby players, and has been a Spine Consultant with the Swans City FC.
Mr Mehta has published papers, co-authored chapters, presented papers to learned societies and lectured at national and international meetings. He is a member of the SRS, BSS, BASS, BOA and ASSI. He is on the Assistant Editorial Board of European Spine Journal, Reviewer for Spine and on the SRS Grant Review Committee.
