Professional profile:
Mr Edward Fisher qualified from Oxford University Medical School in 1983 (BA (Hons) Physiological Sciences 1980 and MB BCh in 1983). He trained in the surgical specialities in Oxford and Reading and has worked in ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) since 1986. Mr Fisher holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of England and the Inter-collegiate Specialty Fellowship in Otolaryngology (1994). His training in ENT has been at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, London, at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth, Australia.

He is active in treating diseases of the paranasal sinuses and nose this includes nasal allergy disease. He liaise where appropriate with local chest, paediatric and immumology colleagues in rhinological management. Mr Fisher is also interested in otitis media and childrens ENT disorders. 

Mr Edward Fisher's service for voice problems at the Spire Hospitals includes close liaison with speech and language therapy, and he works closely with audiologists for managing hearing problems. 

He has published widely and has written a doctorate thesis for Oxford University on an acoustic technique used in the assessment of nasal obstruction. 

Mr Fisher is an examiner in ENT at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Personal profile:
Mr Edward Fisher is married to a local community Macmillan nurse and have four children including twins. 

His hobbies consist of playing the French horn in a local brass chamber group, and singing Bass in the parish church choir, as well as supporting Sunderland Association Football Club. Mr Fisher holidays in Devon and sail a dinghy. 

He has enjoyed brass playing abroad and on TV and radio during his playing career. The highlight of his playing career was undoubtedly playing in a brass band at the visit of Pope John Paul II to Wembley in 1982.
