Mr Machani studied medicine in India and qualified in 1993. He was elected by the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006 as a Fellow and awarded FRCS (Trauma & Ort). He also submitted his thesis on fixation of humerus fractures to the University of Liverpool and was awarded Masters in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He is on the Special register as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Mr Machani completed his higher surgical training in Liverpool. Having always had a special interest in upper limb and sports surgery and to masters his skills further, he underwent fellowship training in Liverpool, Wrightington (centre of excellence), University of Manitoba, Canada, Whiston hand unit and Epson shoulder unit. He also had the opportunity to visit Dr Gartsman in Texas to learn more upper limb surgery.
He was recently appointed as Hand and Upper Limb consultant at the City & Sandwell Hospital, Birmingham. He specialises in wrist, elbow, knee and shoulder keyhole surgeries. Mr Machani is competent in complex upper limb trauma including minimal invasive scaphoid fixation, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand trauma. He also undertakes rheumatoid hand surgery, needle fasciotomy for dupuytrens disease, joint replacement surgery of wrist, hand, elbow and shoulder.
Mr Machani also performs his own ultrasound scan and nerve conduction studies to promote a one stop service for shoulder and carpal tunnel syndrome. He involves patients in the outcome measures before and after treatment to measure his success and patient satisfaction. He also has his own specialised protocol in the rehabilitation of upper limb surgeries.
