In January 2012, Spire Parkway Hospital was asked by the chair of Practice Learning and Assessment Partnership at BCU to be one of two areas for external audit. The feedback was very positive:
‘Just a quick note to say thank you for the continued support of the students. The recent visit from the external examiner was extremely successful and has opened her eyes to the private sector to the point that she is returning to her own links to explore this in her own area. Well done and thank you.’
The relationship that Spire Parkway Hospital has with BCU is very important and we will continue to develop our relationship with them. The hospital currently offers placements for nursing and radiology students and is in the process of developing a generic student pathway with the placement manager from the Primary Care Trust that will enable us to increase placement areas.
Over the past two years the relationship with Birmingham City University and Spire Parkway Hospital has blossomed, with very positive results for all concerned. The feedback from students has been very positive and, as a consequence of working at Parkway as a student, several have joined our bank of nursing staff, which helps to plan for the future and continue with our aim to provide the best possible care to our patients.
