The Montefiore sponsors local cricket academy

The Academy, which gives 200 youngsters the opportunity to train and play in matches over the summer months is being supported by the Montefiore Hospital, due to open in Brighton in the autumn. The hospital is the latest one to be built by Spire Healthcare.

Academy director Jason Morgan said: “Our Academy is fully inclusive, with boys and girls under 16 of all abilities welcome.” They receive regular coaching from Sussex County professionals as well as England Cricket Board-trained staff.

“We provide a safe environment where members can play, learn and socialise, and I think they really enjoy the opportunity to be outdoors with people of their own age.

“Our sponsorship arrangement with the Montefiore has allowed the Academy to kick start the next stage of its journey, giving it its own identity within Lindfield Cricket Club.”

The Montefiore’s commercial manager James Dempster said: “We are in the business of looking after people but believe this should extend beyond the hospital and out into the local community through supporting initiatives that help people lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
