Professor Graham-Brown trained in London and was first appointed consultant dermatologist Leicester in 1983. He has published five books, several chapters in major textbooks and well over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and reviews. Professor Graham-Brown has had a private practice for the past 22 years, primarily based at Spire Leicester Hospital. He practices conventional dermatology with a special interest in paediatric skin disorders and a bias towards inflammatory skin diseases, notably eczema, and skin cancer. Professor Graham-Brown is the lead for cutaneous lymphoma in the East Midlands and holds the title of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
Professor Graham-Brown was President of the British Association of Dermatologists 2005 - 2006 and the Editor of the British Journal Dermatology from 2000 - 2004. He was at one time heavily involved in medical management, undertaking various roles at University Hospitals of Leicester. Professor Graham-Brown was Chairman of the Department of Health Working Party on 'Dermatology Closer to Home' 2006 - 2008.
