I am a luminal gastroenterologist dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of upper, mid and lower gut disorders. My practice at Spire Hospital is designed to allow patients adequate opportunity to fully explore their problem. We have excellent diagnostic facilities with expert gastrointestinal radiologists and pathologists. Our endoscopy equipment is up to date and allows me to perform endoscopy or colonoscopy on appropriate patients with or without sedation or even with a general anaesthetic.
My initial medical degree was from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, University of London. The majority of my gastroenterology training was carried out in Leeds at both The General Infirmary, and the University Department of Medicine at St James's University Hospital where I also carried out three years research in gastroenterology and was awarded my Doctorate of Medicine.
I was appointed to The Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1990 and have worked in The University Hospitals of Leicester ever since. As well as gastroenterology I have been clinical director of medicine and the Royal College of Physicians Regional Adviser. In addition to my general gastroenterology I have specialist clinics for inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's Disease), coeliac disease and adolescent (young adult) gastroenterology. I also do clinics and endoscopies at Hinckley and District Hospital and am the visiting gastroenterologist for Gibraltar.
