Mr George Whitwell is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. His areas of specific interest are hip and knee replacement surgery (primary and revision) for a variety of underlying conditions including osteoarthritis. He also performs knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery).
Mr Whitwell carries out his NHS work at Chapel Allerton hospital where he was appointed in 2012. He is a trainer for junior orthopaedic surgeons at Leeds Teaching hospitals and an instructor on regional training courses. He has published and presented research in international journals and meetings.
Mr Whitwell was trained in Yorkshire as a registrar and then undertook additional fellowship training in hip and knee surgery at Warwick, York and Leeds. He practises enhanced recovery techniques in his joint replacements.
