Dani, 23, from Brentwood had a course of laser hair reduction treatment at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood. Her treatment was carried out by Lead Aesthetic Nurse, Nikki Cambo. Dani kindly agreed to share her treatment experience with us.
With Spire you know that the person operating the laser is a nurse, has had all the relevant training and the hospital is regulated by the Care Quality Commission
How did you feel before coming to Spire for your consultation?
Before coming to Spire I felt self-conscious and worried about my unwanted hair being visible to others. I felt nervous as I didn’t know what to expect from the people at Spire. I found that the staff at Spire Hartswood are lovely and put you at ease as soon as you step foot in the building. They also like to take the time to get to know your needs with a warm and friendly tone. I was given all the appropriate information and there were no hidden costs. What I was quoted was what I was going to pay.
How did your nurse explain your treatment?
Nikki was very thorough; she explained all the positives and negatives and advised what course of action would be best for my skin and hair type. She also explained what I could and couldn’t do during and after treatments, and the possible effects of what would happen if I didn’t listen to her advice. She advised what I might expect from the treatment and also that each person reacts differently so exact results can’t be predicted.
How was your first treatment?
My first treatment was painful; however I had been told to expect this. It wasn’t unbearable but definitely a shock if you’re not prepared. Nikki made me feel at ease as she told me to tell her if it was too painful as she would stop to let me have a break before continuing.
How was the aftercare?
The aftercare was great; Nikki helped to apply some aloe vera gel to soothe the skin and also checked the immediate effects to make sure I was reacting appropriately before being allowed home. She also gave me some useful tips on getting the best out of each treatment and helping the hairs to shed.
Do you think there is a difference between a salon and the Spire laser service?
I feel that with a salon they don’t work under the same level of regulation. With Spire you know that the operator is a nurse, has had all the relevant training and the hospital is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
Would you recommend us to friends/family?
I would recommend the Spire laser service to all friends and family. I feel that they give a personalised touch and provide a very professional service. The pricing is reasonable especially within the wider market and the evening service means that treatments can be worked around a busy lifestyle.
