We have brought together four consultant specialists to give GPs and other primary care professionals an update on common women’s health problems.
All sessions will focus on recognising the symptoms, when to treat and when to refer.
The event is open to GPs, GP registrars, locums and nurse practitioners/practice nurses.
Dr Rehman Khan, Consultant endocrinologist
PCOS: an enigma - Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common and complex endocrine disorders amongst females. In this session, Dr Khan will speak on the prevalence, manifestations and treatment options.
Ms Desiree Kolomainen BSc, MRCOG, Consultant gynaecological oncologist
In the UK alone, thousands of women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer each year. Ms Kolomainen will provide an overview of gynaecological cancers, including details regarding current treatment and post-treatment issues.
Mr Ako Nnochiri MBBS, MRCOG, Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist
Urinary incontinence is a common condition that can affect women of all ages. Mr Nnochiri will focus on this subject and its management in line with the recent NICE guidelines.
Mr Rajiv Varma MB, FRCOG, Consultant gynaecologist
Most British women can now expect to live more than 30 years of post-reproductive life, hence the consequences for immediate and long-term healthcare are significant. In this session, Mr Varma will discuss menopause, its consequences and management.
