Mr Jag Chawla is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex and Spire Roding Hospital in Redbridge, Essex offering private eye surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospitals.
Jag Chawla's special interests include refractive phacoemulsification, oculoplastic surgery and refractive surgery. Refractive phacoemulsification is suitable for patients with cataracts and high refractive errors. It requires the use of multifocal lens implants and astigmatic keratotomy. One of the newer procedures that Mr Chawla offers is varifocal lens implants which can include the correction of astigmatism. These techniques enables the majority of patients to achieve relative independence from glasses. Mr Chawla also manages complicated cataract patients using lens implant exchange and 'piggyback' lens implants.Jag Chawla also undertakes oculoplastic procedures like blepharoplasty, ptosis, malpositions of lids, eyelid cancers with reconstruction, tear duct obstruction using radio-frequency surgery techniques. Radio frequency surgery is also useful for the removal of warts, keratotic lesions, nevi, telengiectasia, skin tags, mucous membrane grafts, punctal occlusion and trichiasis with minimal scarring.
I am a keen gardener. I am involved in several charity and voluntary organsiations like the Lions Club. I have in the past organised several surgical eye camps overseas. My other passion is listening to music.
