At Elland Hospital all our staff are highly trained state registered physiotherapists. Each of our physiotherapists is highly skilled in the core treatments and conditions as well as having different areas of interest. We actively invest in training and development of all our staff. We are committed to ongoing training, keeping abreast of the latest developments in treatment and advances in technology.
We offer individual treatment plans based on a thorough clinical assessment of your individual needs. A treatment plan is created in cojunction with your therapist to regain your full potential. The treatments we use are evidence based and are continuously updated and improved. If your condition is not suitable for physiotherapy, we will ensure you are referred to the most appropriate specialist within our hospital, as soon as possible. We have a very close liaison with the consultants and radiology to ensure diagnosis is correct, enabling optimum rehabilitation. We will liaise directly with your GP to ensure they are informed of your progress.

Physio Manager - Nick Miller –HCPC, MCSP
Nick joined Spire following 6 years at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London where he gained experience in treating a large variety of pathologies in inpatient and outpatient settings. Prior to gaining qualification as a physiotherapist he also completed a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
His clinical experience includes Amputee Rehabilitation, Hydrotherapy and working with a National league Hockey team. Nick works with a variety of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic patients with a particular interest in sporting injuries. Nick has participated in high level Cricket and Hockey which has assisted him in the use of manual therapy and exercise prescription to help patients return to maximum function
Susie Wylie HPC, CSP
Susie is the deputy manager of the physiotherapy team, and draws on 36 years of clinical experience. During this time, Susie has worked in a variety of settings, including Leeds and Huddersfield NHS, GP practice and the private sector.
Susie specialises in in-patient orthopaedic, neurological, medical and elderly patients.
Frances Lee HPC, CSP
Fran is a highly experienced member of the team, having qualified 40 years ago. She has worked in both the NHS and the private sector.
Fran currently works with a variety of patients, predominately musculo-skeletal and orthopaedic. She uses a wide range of treatment techniques including manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy and aromatherapy. Fran is also experienced in the use of Cybex isokinetics for the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Jan Greenwood HPC, CSP, ACPIN, ACPSICR
Jan qualified in 1992, and has been working for in the private sector since 2005. Jan’s background includes 13 years in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust, as well as work within rugby and private hydrotherapy.
Jan works with a wide variety of both in-patients and out-patients including neurological, respiratory, orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal. Jan is able to offer a wide range of treatments for these diverse conditions, and has a particular interest in soft-tissue injuries, spinal and knee post-surgical rehabilitation, respiratory and neurological conditions.
Jan combines her professional interests with regular participation in a number of sports. These include badminton, aerobics and especially running.
Sarah Keys HPC, CSP
Sarah qualified in 2001 and prior to joining the private sector in 2005 spent over 3 years working in the NHS. This included time in a specialist upper limb unit and back rehabilitation.
Sarah works with all musculo-skeletal and orthopaedic patients, with a particular clinical interest in shoulder problems. Sarah’s treatments comprise of manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy and also acupuncture. Sarah is also experienced in the use of Cybex isokinetics for the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Tom Walker HPC
Tom joined Spire in 2010, having qualified from the University of Bradford in 2007. Tom previously worked in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust NHS, gaining wide-ranging clinical experience including several months in a specialist lower-limb gym.
Tom works with a wide variety of outpatient musculo-skeletal and orthopaedic patients, with a special interest in sports injuries. His treatments comprise primarily of exercise prescription and manual therapy. He is also experienced in the use of Cybex isokinetics for the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Tom is an active climber (and fell runner, when his wife makes him) and has pursued this passion world-wide. Due to this, Tom is well aware of the issues and frustrations that surround sporting injuries and so treatment is geared to minimise time-off, maintain fitness levels and addressing biomechanical issues that may lead to reoccurrence.
You do not need a doctor's referral to see one of our physiotherapists but you will need to have visited your GP prior to attending our clinics if you are medically insured.
