Pain in any area of the body can be very limiting on you and impact heavily on your lifestyle. At Spire Elland we are pleased to offer a fully comprehensive pain management service for private patients. From diagnosis to treatment we have a full complement of specialists and facilities to cater for your needs.
Our service is led by Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management Dr Vladimir Gorelov PhD, DESA, FRCA, FFPMRCA. Dr Gorelov has a wealth of experience in all aspects of pain management and has a special interest in back pain, headaches and facial pain.
Modern low invasive techniques such as radiofrequency ablation and pulsed radiofrequency are widely used. This applies to facet joint pain, sacroiliac joint pain and radicular pain.
A new headache clinic, run by Dr Gorelov has recently opened at Spire Elland Hospital.
The headache clinic offers an integrated service where different types of headaches are investigated and treated with an emphasis on interventional procedures. Headaches in the occipital region, some types of facial pain, some involving the eye may have their origin in the neck (cervicogenic headaches) and may require tests and treatment involving low-invasive X-ray guided interventions in the neck.
Common headaches such as migraine and tension-type headache may be approached interventionally (low-invasive procedures) when medication does not work or is not tolerated.
We have a particular interest in rare types such as trigeminal neuralgia, post herpetic neuralgia and cluster headache (autonomic cephalalgias).
The clinic offers radiofrequency procedures (RF thermocoagulation and pulsed RF) in the neck and head.
