I qualified from Leeds Medical School in 1996. I was a junior doctor in Bradford and, later, Derby Hospitals. I spent a year working as a specialist registrar in Hamilton, New Zealand, before completing my specialist medical training in West Yorkshire. I have been working as a consultant since 2007 and am employed as a Consultant Physician specialising in Endocrinology & Diabetes and Acute and General Medicine at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
I grew up in the City of Bath and chose Leeds Medical School because of its good reputation and my strong family connections with Yorkshire. I live in Northowram with my wife, Victoria, and two young girls who keep us busy. We enjoy family trips out and regularly spend time in Filey on the East Yorkshire coast. When I get chance I enjoy a round of golf at my local course. I am a trained glider pilot although because of busy family commitments I don’t get much opportunity to fly.
