Dr. Deepak completed his medical degree and then his anaesthesia and pain management residency from one of India’s prestigious teaching hospitals (JIPMER). He was awarded the University Gold medal in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at the time of his graduation. Pursuing his interest in Pain Medicine, he moved to the UK and completed his Specialist Registrar training in the Oxford region. He then went on to complete his Pain Medicine fellowship in the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and University College Hospital London. He has been appointed to the post of Consultant Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust from February 2010.
Dr. Deepak firmly believes in the role of early intervention and the appropriate use of multidisciplinary techniques in treating pain disorders. His clinics aim to offer a comprehensive diagnostic and investigative service complemented by good support from the physiotherapy and psychology specialists. His areas of clinical expertise include treatment of neck and back pain of musculoskeletal and spinal origin, neuropathic pain including CRPS and cancer pain. Along with utilizing a full complement of pharmacological treatments, Dr. Deepak also performs a variety of interventional procedures such as epidural, facet, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency lesioning, sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks using X-ray and Ultrasound.
In order to keep abreast of the latest treatment modalities in pain management Dr. Deepak maintains an active membership in the British pain Society, European Society of Regional Anaesthesia, International Association for the study of Pain (IASP) and British Medical Acupuncture Society. He has regularly presented in both national and international conferences and is keenly interested in promoting high quality pain education to his patients and other health care professionals.
